today was a good day. i sold two canon ixus 55s within half an hour, all by myself!

haven't had internet for the past few days, dunno why.

totally underestimated the shop i was working in.

i mean, at first sight, it's really nothing much, tiny, enclosed, packed, even untidy.

40 year old virgins



first it was bbq over the weekend. then paintball on sunday. the list goes on, 40 year old virgin on monday, lan on tuesday, flightplan today, bbq again this weekend, not on sat but on sunday (maurice's dad's bday).

no, that's not a list of outings i've had since the exams. it's a list of planned outings that came to nought.

e.g. monday i had a poorly timed dental appointment, today no flightplan (...).

our class kinda sux at planning outings, haha. even after two years still the same...

acs sailing/ helping friends

we had sailing meeting on tuesday, discussed things like criteria for next year's intake of sailors, captains, camps, etc.

imo, i dun really care about the school sailing programs. cuz i hardly train with the school anyway, i find that some of the pple attitudes are not good for training, much better with the squad. the worst thing is this rivalries with other schools like ri and vj, which is just terrible, especially as i'm such gd friends with so many of them. it just feels wrong la, to advertise school spirit, values, bonding etc and thus shun the others. all this talk about trying to get the best sailors to come to our school, bla bla bla.

and the interschools are always so shit anyway. without fail.

sailing should be public. sailing should be for everyone to enjoy and learn together. not to stick knives in each other's backs.

and my dear captain might just scold me for that.

but hear my second thought!

ac sailors are good for one thing - soccer. ironic but true. thus we go to part 2 of this story. after the meeting about 8 of us went to play soccer. even though greg had tuition at 530, he sportingly played with us till about 510, after which we both rushed home in a cab.

on the cab, he called home and realised that the teacher was already there. i exchanged my clean sch shirt with his muddied one in the hope that he won't be scolded too badly. he reached home abt 550.

i learnt today that his mom wasn't home, so not much of a scolding. close one there.

relief/ before the tension

we were supposed to receive our results at 920. so ben chan, jinyan, kwong and i went to "enjoy our final freedom" before that and go and play soccer. not that i felt any doom, but they seemed to, so i just followed lorh.

we had some fun on the muddy back field (haven't played there since sec 2), but when we reached class at 910 the two ladies were already in class. so we got scolded a bit la.

i'm ok with my results. highlights would be 81 and 79% for c. and a. maths respectively. oh, and i mentioned how i diligently studied geog? i got 66 haha... sorry la tim chan and yinghao - write so much still fail.

science papers weren't so good la, but expected.

so eventually my combo should turn out like this:

i've been feeling good ever since i trumped my two maths papers. (it sux sitting in front. right chin leong?)

and then today, i

-took the same bus home with tim chan, "freezing our balls off"

-met daniel lee at the amk bus stop. just that we were going in opposite directions.

-thought i saw someone who looked terribly like melissa woo in a car driving past. must be dreaming, crazy for her to be in this part of the world.

-was standing outside my door when the wind started gusting and billowing through the street. i stood and savoured it for a moment, then stepped back in when it began raining.

exams are over tomorrow. go chiong to town already... heard we might have some class bbq over the weekend, damn there's so many things i haven't done for weeks.

like sailing. i need to go and plead with giba to let me go australia. then it's back to gym for me.

benjamin's been causing me so many problems. i've realised that i've spent more time arranging morning transport for him than studying geog. 'open mind' indeed. maybe it's because he's listening to too much emo music - perhaps it's my influence.

i'm thinking of compiling some sort of "songs of the year" list... i've sort of been earmarking different tracks.

examinations
inertia

is reluctance.

i thought some time ago about how it takes a lot for me to start studying, but once i begin, i can't seem to stop. until i fall asleep.

still, it pains me to see, beyond my window, swirling leaves and rustling branches, while i am trapped within, with books for companions. makes me wanna grab a tiller and chiong out the door.

there and back again.

if i could, at one sweep, understand everything about how the universe works, from junk dna to space time. after which, if i feel that it was better off not knowing in the first place, i wish to then be able to eradicate all memory of such knowledge, and return to a life of ignorance.

knowing nothing is better than knowing at all. -the used

and yet again, some of the fun in life is the challenge learning and understanding new things by yourself.

ah well. physics was challenging, not altogether fun. maths was... satisfying.

my dad introduced me to heavy water today. all of sudden i think i know what i want to do my ee. either that or deuterium, or yellow boy. firstly, they mean more than the sound at first - "dad, stop talking nonsense. there's no such thing as h30." (btw, it's D2O.) secondly, it's chem, and probably means i'll be able to mess around in the lab.

someone very notable in the sailing community has had to consult my dad.

anniversary 2
happy anniversary!

just had to say this. i could draw parallels between friday's outing and yesterday's dinner. i met with my parents' 20+ year friends, and to me it was really not far from what we had with the sailors. they were telling wonderful stories (i learnt that on the wedding day, the wind blew the cake over. i also learnt what a stag party is.). hope things will be like that in the future for us.

i had a very nice chat with aunt priscilla (kwong, you shut up.). i think she's the bomb la. then she was the only one who got her hair done just for the dinner. she's got 8 children! (if i'm not wrong i think i can credit their first three sons for getting me started on soccer. (although that probably would have happened even without them anyway.)) she should represent s'pore's push for bigger families.

we had a nice chat about my future in school. her daughter's same age, also in ib program, in rgs. we were talking about subjects to take, sailing, life in general.

then we were also talking about how, if people wanted to get pregnant, they could just go to her house/ her office/ sit on her chair. rofl.


there were only two girls.
one was my close cousin, the other was quite pretty...

but she didn't want to talk.
she looked strangely like zhengmin.
like wth?

i also met tim seow's mom! haha, so cool. my dad had been saying that their colleague had a son also in acs ib, wondering if i knew him. when they asked me if i knew 'tim', i was like "there are so many tims i know..."

but i identified him cuz i asked his mom if he played soccer lol. like litmus test.
